Recommended duration

We recommend that you plan at least 7 days to complete the route as this will include at least 5 hours driving time per day, and depending on your entry point from the border, you may need to give yourself more time. For a leisurely trip, taking in the sights and spending time exploring, you could take the trip in around 10 days.

Direction of travel

It is highly recommended that you make the journey of The Grand Tour clockwise. This is due to the fact that a lot of cities include one way streets and motorway access roads can only be reached in certain directions. Signposts along the route are limited to the clockwise direction of travel on the main route, and to access roads to the main route from abroad. The Grand Tour of Switzerland route is fundamentally aimed at cars and motorcycles and other larger vehicles may struggle with restrictions.
